• Reviewed our Questions from Friday. Do you get it? Please ask if you have questions.
• WEATHERING: what is it?
• Defined the words: Igneous, Metamorphic, Sedimentary. What are these classes of?
• Defined ROCK and MINERAL. How are they different?

• HOMEWORK: Draw the ROCK CYCLE. It can be found in your textbook.

• Reviewed our questions from yesterday & handed them in with our SCALE drawing of Earth.
• Talked about VOLCANOS! What is a volcano? Magma? Lava? Pompeii?
• Read from the 'blue book" about volcanos and p360 in our textbook about volcanos
• Did p362 #4. Talked about our answers.
• Read p363-366 about WEATHERING. Do p366 #1-5 on the same page you did #4. Due Monday.

Today in SCIENCE we:

• Handed in our Planet Earth Title Pages.
• Talked about the STRUCTURE or MODEL of the Earth.
• How many layers does the Earth have? What are they called? What are some characteristics of them?
• Did p356 #3 - to SCALE. Do you remember how we did it? Hint: 1cm=1000km & you have to add the thicknesses of the layers together as you work your way out from the centre.
• Read from the "blue book" about PLATES, PLATE TECTONICS, & EARTHQUAKES.
• What causes an Earthquake?
• Read p358-359 - more specific information about Earthquakes. What is a FOCUS? An EPICENTRE? SEISMIC WAVE?
• Homework: p362 #1, 2, & 3, Due FRIDAY.

For the last week we:

• Did review for Heat & Temperature. Have NOT handed this in yet.....but we will!
• Had our Unit Final on Heat & Temperature.
• Worked on our title pages for Planet Earth - DUE TOMORROW: THURSDAY MAY 27, 2010.

Today in SCIENCE we:

• Did vocabulary #27. This is our last formal vocabulary of the year!
• ALL VOCABULARY IS DUE on MONDAY!

Today in SCIENCE we:

• Saw which material kept our ice frozen the longest. Why do you think the sawdust won?
• Had our vocabulary checked. You should have this done before Thursday's Final.
• Went over p250 #1-4.
• On p253 - how many ways did you find that the house could be more energy efficient?
• Worked on p256 #2-19. This will be due on THURSDAY when you have your unit final.

• Reviewed the particle theory of matter and states of matter and changing states of matter.
• Got a worksheet. Have the front side, and one column of vocabulary complete for tomorrow. You had class time to work on this.

Today in SCIENCE we:

• Talked about CONDUCTION of heat. What makes a good conductor?
• Did a little experiment with wax and different types of metals - How good a conductor am I? (Or Burny Burny). Wrote up our findings in our journals. What does: Copper, Aluminium, Brass, Iron, and Stainless Steel, in this order, mean to you?
• Read p233-234, do p236 #1 & 2, p237 #1-5.
• THURSDAY we will see how long we can keep ice from melting!! (p236)
