Today in SCIENCE we:
  • Got back our Common Written Assessments. Please look at the written feedback you got, not just the number. This assessment is intended to HELP you develop your writting skills in Science. It is designed to help you improve your observation and analyitical skills. Any questions? Please see me.
  • Continued to watch the Movie. What have we seen happen to structures as the temperature changes? What about the force or power of water?
  • You have worked very hard this term, have you handed everything in? Please talk to me if you think you are missing assignments.

  • Started to watch the movie "The Day After Tomorrow". What OBSERVATIONS are we trying to make in this movie? Think: Structures & Forces AND Heat & Temperature!

  • Reviewed for 10 minutes with Mr. Friesen. Went over any last minute questions we had before our unit final.

Today in SCIENCE we:
  • Did Current Events. This was your last chance for term 3 people.
  • Worked on some review questions. To review please complete sia7 p342-343 #1-18. You had some class time for this. Format your work properly.
  • On MONDAY we will REVIEW for 10 minutes, then you will write your Unit Final.
  • Review your review booklet for Monday. The first page has a list of the key concepts, or ideas you should know about Structures & Forces from the work we have done this unit.
  • Hang on to your bridges books. I will want to take a look at them, so bring them to class next week.

  • Got back our Bridges Booklets. We will have a final review of them & submit them for grading on FRIDAY.
  • Worked on our Revew Booklet. It is due tomorrow.
  • UNIT FINAL HAS BEEN MOVED TO MONDAY!
  • Thursday we will finish our backpack designs & do some group review.
  • Friday: Current Events. You should have completed at least ONE this term. Friday is your LAST day to get one done for term 3.
  • Field trip to the Zoo: April 27. If your parents would like to volunteer please have them contact the school.

  • Finished our Tallest Towers.
  • Tested our tower. How did yours do?
  • In our journal we drew our tower & answered the following questions: 1) Why did your tower work? 2) Why did it fail? 3) What are the differenes between the three components that you used? 4) What wyould you change for next time? 5) Using your tower as an example, describe the terms: structural stress, deformation, fatiuge, & failure.
  • Got the Egg Drop Project.
  • HOMEWORK: Come prepared to start building tomorrow. Go through your recycling at home, see what you have that might work for your structure.
  • D-Day is MONDAY!

Today in SCIENCE we:
  • Did not do vocabulary today! We have completed vocabulary for this unit. You can expect another quiz this week.
  • Vocabulary duotangs are due by MONDAY MARCH 8th, 2010 for grading this term. Is yours complete?
  • Re-read the tallest tower on pgs 304-305.
  • In our Journals, we made a design to help our group build a tall tower.
  • Got toothpicks, 31 mini-marshmallows, & 12 jujubes to build our towers. You could have up to 5 extra of each if you could show excatly why you needed them and how they would benefit your tower. This makes you "over budget"
  • Why are we trying to build the tallest tower?
  • Talked about our EGG DROP project. You will be dropping next MONDAY!
  • Current Events on FRIDAY. Schedule is on the Bulletin Board.
