Today in SCIENCE we:

• Talked about our reading. What are the THREE types of Structural Components?
• Did questions #1 & 2 on p306 as a class. Good work.
• Talked about the Egg Drop Project. You will need to bring in your own materials next week for this activity.
• Read the "tallest tower" activity as a table group. What changes are we making to this challenge? How many minutes will you have to build?
• Started questions #106 on p307. They will be due on MONDAY.
• Current Events Schedule for this term is on the bulletin board, check so you know when your turn is!

• Read as a class p301 and did the activity with straws to show the strongest shape.
• What is the strongest shape? Why? What did you observe?
• HOMEWORK: finish writing up your observations of the straw activity & Read p302-303.

• Where is your textbook's centre of gravity?
• We did the Give it a try activity on p295. Which tripod did your group choose? Why?
• HOMEWORK: READ & UNDERSTAND p296-298. Can you define the forces?

Today in SCIENCE we:

• Finished our last bridges presentation.
• Did a worksheet about bridges & marked it. How did you do?
• Took apart our K'nex bridges, counted the pieces to make SURE we had enough, & put them away NEATLY!
• Looked at the EGGS from last week. What happened? What did the shell look like? The insides? What was the difference between the food coloured egg & the egg in vinegar?
• Centre of Gravity (c.o.g.) question is for homework. Look on the BACK of the bridges worksheet, READ the information, look at the diagrams, do you understand the concept? EXPLAIN your answer in YOUR OWN words.

If you want to purchase the "KEYS" to help you study for exams, the forms that were in with your report card, & money are due back to Ms. LUNMAN by FRIDAY!

• Discussed appropriate behaviour for presentations. Do you remember what we said?
• Presented our Bridges to the class. Well done. We will finish our presentations on TUESDAY.
• Homework: sia9 p295 #1-4. REMEMBER to FORMAT your work PROPERLY! Due Tuesday.
• Put an egg in vinegar, what do you think will happen? Put an egg in green food colouring, what do you think will happen? What PROCESSES are these? How will these affect the STRUCTURE of the egg shell? How will these affect the MATERIAL the egg shell is made with?

• Finished building our K'nex bridges. Overall, I have some concerns about how you worked as groups, and your respect for the equipment and each other. What do you think they may be?
• Got our Bridges Field Trip booklets back to help us write our PRESENTATIONS about the bridges we just built.
• Read sia7 p288-291. Use this information to help you with your PRESENTATION.
• Worked on our Bridge PRESENTATION we will do them tomorrow.
• What type of behaviour is expected during presentations? Think about this.

• What is YOUR opinion? Can you SUPPORT it? Use the readings we reviewed today, your experience on the field trip, your textbook, & any other research you choose to do between now & Thursday.
