Today in SCIENCE we:
  • Read sia7 p287-289: Symmetry & Load. What do those words mean?
  • Did part two of our experiment. When we changed the way the eggs were sitting, we were able to stack 10 more books on top! Why?
  • Why did we need to know what type of textbook we were using and how many?
  • What could we do to help support our results?
  • Wrote a journal entry about our experiment and HANDED IT IN.
  • When Ms. Wilson broke an egg with her bare hands, which direction broke quicker?
  • MAGNITUDE, DIRECTION, & LOCATION, Oh My! All affect FORCE.

Today in SCIENCE we:

  • Talked about our COMMON WRITTEN ASSESSMENT. It will take place on TUESDAY Febraury 2nd: The reading & planning stage, and THURSDAY February 4th: The writing & editing stage. You do not need to study for this. Please do your BEST!
  • Reviewed our homework: p284 #3. Do you know how to calculate this? Remember ratios?
  • What is a NEWTON?
  • Reviewed 3 things we know about FORCE: 1) Direction, 2) Location, 3) Magnitude. Can you explain them?
  • We stacked textbooks on top of eggs. WHY on Earth would we do this? What was your Hypothesis? What was the result? What will we try tomorrow?
  • HOMEWORK: Read sia7 p285-286. What is centre of gravity?

  • Did our self-evaluations for term 2. Were you honest? They are meant to help you be more successful in term 3!
  • Talked about measuring FORCE. What do the terms MAGNITUDE, DIRECTION, & LOCATION mean? How can you apply them? What examples did we do in class?
  • What are FRICTION & GRAVITY?
  • What is a NEWTON? We looked at spring scales today, what units of measure to they have? What might we use them for?
  • HOMEWORK: p284 #3, Due WEDNESDAY.

  • Reviewed our homework from yesterday. Enough with the excuses. Come to class prepared with everything. You had class time to work on your questions. You had maybe 5-15 minutes of homework, you could have completed this after school before you went home.
  • In groups, we discussed the give it a try activity on p278. This is now homework for you to do on your own.
